About Imogen Love

Imogen Love is a holistic birth doula, birth educator, photographer and sound therapist supporting women through pregnancy, birth, postpartum and the profound transition into motherhood. Her work brings together evidence-informed birth education with a deep understanding of the body, nervous system and the emotional landscape of becoming a parent.

This work is deeply personal. Perhaps what follows will give you more of a sense of me ~ the lived experience, values, and ways of working that shape my offerings into something more personal, intuitive, and unique.

I am based in Stoke Newington, Hackney, and serve throughout London.

I am a mother of two incredible daughters, both born at home. Both were very different experiences, both were powerful lessons that reminded me that there is no perfect way to give birth ~ only your way. This is one of the reasons I hold birth with so much openness.

I have had the honour of supporting countless women, partners, and families over the past five+ years. Each journey has added another layer to the knowledge, experience, and wisdom I now bring to my work. Whilst no two journeys are ever the same, there are patterns, nuances, and lessons that can only be learned by walking alongside families time and time again.

I have a deep love for gathering people together. I am an experienced space holder, hosting retreats, circles and events, and our home is often filled with friends, family, food, laughter, and long conversations around the table. Hosting has taught me so much about holding space and care ~ that often the most meaningful support is found in creating spaces where people feel safe enough to arrive exactly as they are. Forever a student of life, each year I reinvest back into my work ~ through training, study, and continued learning ~ expanding my understanding of birth, the body, and human experience. I believe this path asks us to stay open, curious, and willing to evolve, and I carry that commitment into everything I offer.

I am endlessly fascinated by the intersection of physiology and spirituality ~ how hormones, breath, instinct, emotion, and nervous system state all weave together in birth and beyond.

I use hypnobirthing principles in my work, but I rarely call it hypnobirthing. For me, these are life tools ~ about nervous system connection, conscious breath, instinct, and trust ~ not just something reserved for birth.

My studio, The Love Studio N16, in Stoke Newington is where I host monthly community sound baths and circles, and my 1:1 sessions with clients. It’s lovingly often referred to as “the womb at the end of my garden” ~ a space for women to land, soften, create, and be held.

I cry at all births…It truly is the most profoundly miraculous moment that I am so privileged to witness.

I have lived experience of Hyperemesis Gravidarum and Postnatal Depression. Whilst I would never wish either upon anyone, these experiences allow me to meet women facing similar challenges with genuine understanding, compassion, and without judgement.

Before becoming a doula over 5 years ago, I spent over 15 years working in fashion advertising as a creative producer and art director. This is where my relationship with photography flourished ~ in storytelling, emotion, and capturing feeling as much as image.

I practice Kundalini yoga, and these elements quietly weave their way into my work ~ in breath, presence, nervous system awareness, and the way I hold space for others.

I believe deeply in community. It is one of the reasons I created Matra Collective ~because women deserve access to meaningful support, trusted practitioners, and spaces where they feel they belong.

I believe people deserve to feel safe, supported, informed, and deeply held as they move through pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and beyond. And more than anything, I believe the right doula is someone you trust.

Someone whose presence helps you feel a little more grounded, a little more understood, and a little more yourself.

If that feels like me, I would love to connect.

Over the years, I have learned is that experience and pricing are not always the same thing. I believe deeply in lived experience, continued learning, intuition, and the wisdom that comes from supporting families over many years. All areas of my work are rooted in integrity and accessibility. I want support to feel both exceptional and attainable, and I am mindful of creating offerings that reflect the depth of my experience whilst remaining accessible to the families who need them. For me, this work has never been about status or exclusivity. It is about showing up wholeheartedly, holding space with care, and walking alongside people through some of the most significant moments of their lives.

The right support for you

is intuitively aligned, deeply considered, and held in devotion to your unique journey.

Ways I can Support You

Every woman arrives here with her own story, needs, hopes, and questions.

Whether you are preparing to welcome a baby, navigating motherhood, seeking space to reconnect with yourself, or simply longing for more support, my offerings are designed to meet you where you are.

My work blends practical care, emotional support, education, photography, sound healing, and community ~ creating spaces where you can feel safe, seen, and deeply supported throughout life's most transformative seasons.

A Gentle Note:

There is no one-size-fits-all path. Some women come to me seeking a doula. Some are looking for beautiful photography sessions. Some arrive for sound healing and later discover they need deeper support through pregnancy or postpartum. You do not need to know exactly what you need before reaching out. If you're unsure where to begin, we can explore that together.

Limited Availability

To ensure every family receives the depth of care, attention, and continuity they deserve, I intentionally support a limited number of clients each month.

Many families choose to book with me early in pregnancy, often following their first scan, allowing us time to build trust, prepare intentionally, and create a truly personalised experience.

If you're considering working together, I recommend reaching out early to discuss availability and explore whether we're the right fit.

The Foundations of My Support

01
Presence

Often, the most transformative support comes not from having all the answers, but from being fully met in the experience.

02
Physiology & Trust

The body is intelligent, understanding our physiology allows us to work with our bodies rather than against them. Knowledge creates confidence. Trust creates softness.

03
Community and Connection

I believe healing happens in community. I believe support matters. I believe women deserve villages.

04
Holistic Care

We cannot separate the physical from the emotional, the practical from the spiritual, or the body from the mind.

Every offering I create is rooted in the understanding that wellbeing is multi-layered.

05
Nervous System Wisdom

The nervous system sits at the heart of so much of our experience. Throughout my work I weave together practices that support regulation, safety, grounding, and ease ~ helping people return to a place where they can hear their own inner wisdom more clearly.

06
Integrity & Accessibility

My work is rooted in genuine care. I believe support should feel thoughtful, honest, and deeply human.

I also believe exceptional care should not be reserved only for those with unlimited resources. Wherever possible, I strive to create offerings that honour both depth and accessibility.

  • “Imogen guided me through my first (and only, to date) pregnancy and labour. I spoke to a few doulas before choosing Imogen for her particularly warm demeanour and non-dogmatic approach. She was really fantastic throughout, and really came into her own during my 36-hour labour.

  • "Imogen helped us to bring our beautiful son safely into this world. Having her by our side to prepare us during the weeks before and to guide us throughout my labour made me feel like we were an invincible team. The best cheerleader, support (emotionally and physically!), and teacher, Imogen helped me to birth my son in the way that I wanted. Her subsequent care and love has allowed me to remember his birth as something of which I will always be incredibly proud. • Imogen is a very special doula. She supported me through a difficult pregnancy with unwavering care, compassion, and incredible wisdom.

  • From our very first meeting, she made me feel seen, heard, and safe, providing guidance that was both practical and deeply nurturing. Her presence throughout the pregnancy and birth was calming and empowering. She went far beyond what I could have hoped for in support, always anticipating needs I didn’t even know I had.

    - a mother

  • Thanks to Imogen, I was able to navigate my pregnancy with confidence, even in the face of challenges I never imagined I’d face. She helped transform what could have been a stressful and overwhelming experience into one of trust, resilience, and empowerment.I will be forever grateful for her guidance, presence, and unwavering dedication.

    - a mother

  • " Imogen was in touch with me and my husband from the minute the labour started and was physically present for the last 20 hours of it, first at home and then in hospital. She was firmly reassuring and calm, which I especially appreciated in the moments when I felt like I was losing my grip on reality. I am still not sure that labour can be beautiful, but Imogen is definitely the reason that mine was not traumatic (and went largely to plan and without complications), despite the incredibly broken medical bureaucracy around it.”
